£45K pro rata

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing national youth charity as their Communications Manager during an exciting period of growth and transformation

This is a hands-on role that combines day-to-day digital communications with the opportunity to establish and grow a proactive media presence. You’ll play a key role in raising organisational profile, building relationships with the media and delivering engaging content that showcases impact.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day social media channels, planning, publishing and optimising engaging content.
  • Develop and maintain a forward content calendar aligned with organisational priorities.
  • Create engaging written, visual and short-form video content for a variety of audiences and platforms.
  • Deliver digital communications to support campaigns, events and key organisational milestones.
  • Build and maintain relationships with journalists and key media contacts.
  • Draft press releases, media statements, briefing notes and media pitches.
  • Manage external PR agencies where appropriate.
  • Contribute to integrated communications campaigns and strategic projects.
  • Provide communications advice and support to colleagues across the organisation.

You’ll have:

  • Experience managing social media channels and delivering successful digital communications.
  • Demonstrable media relations experience
  • Strong news judgement and an understanding of what makes a compelling story.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills, with the ability to tailor content for different audiences and channels.
  • Experience using content management systems, social media scheduling platforms and analytics tools such as WordPress, Hootsuite and GA4.
  • Excellent relationship-building skills and the confidence to work with colleagues and external stakeholders at all levels.
  • Experience working within the charity, public or not-for-profit sector is ideal but not essential
